INDIANAPOLIS – The Midwest is a hotbed for female basketball talent. The Brandon Clay Training Academy was back in the region to work with some of the elite prospects. Here is a look back at some of the standouts during the final Spotlight Session:

The attention to detail that Lampley pays to the game is A1 for a player who has never played a day of high school basketball. She is attentive, inquisitive and generally wants to understand what she is seeing then how to properly react to it. That curiosity will go a long way into her becoming one of the best the state has to offer.

Lampley’s talent is undeniable. After working with her in June, watching her growth as a shooter in the past 120 days only confirms that she’ll put the time in to be an elite option in the class nationally. Lampley is on schedule to be a point forward type of prospect who can consistently play the 1-5 with pace and purpose. If she’ll do that, the sky is the limil.

#42

Makalusky has really turned her game up since attending our Middle School All-American Academy in Atlanta 18 months ago. She is such a talented option on the wing who has the skill to play the 2, 3 or the 4 in the modern game. Makalusky’s willingness to walk in to any situation ready to be impactful is what’s next for her. She has all the tools.

Makalusky’s physical growth is easy to see. She’s grown 3-4 inches since our last evaluation. She has the size to be considered a new age big guard. Makalusky’s ability includes the ability to make the open 3-pointer while showing the moxie to reject a dribble handoff to turn the corner with a tough at the rim finish. For her, believing in her skill set at all times is crucial.

Monson has been in the gym with us two times in the last three weeks. There was noticeable progression from the Atlanta Academy to the stop here in Indy.  We envision Monson’s progression as high level forward capable of making plays in the middle third of the floor. At her best, she is both a shot maker and facilitator.

Spink has become a hot name in the state over the last couple of weeks. She plays with a high level of energy on both ends of the floor. As she keeps sharpening her outside shot and off hand handle, Spink is in line to be considered amongst the upper echelon of perimeter threats in the region.
