Suiting up for the Southeast All Stars, Monson came into the weekend already committed to Purdue. An Elite 150 Watch List member, Monson made the biggest shot of the weekend hitting a 22-foot 3-pointer to win the title game in overtime. She has the size, length and bounce to be a consistent rebounder. As she prepares for her senior season en route to playing in West LaFayette, Monson can become a more consistent position defender. Relying on correct positioning as opposed to athleticism will be a key on that end of the hardwood. -- Brandon Clay
Monson once again showed her versatility and skill set at this latest academy. She shoots the ball with accuracy and handles the ball with confidence. This combined with her length and athleticism, she has many of the tools that coaches at the next level desire. The key thing that we noticed in Monson’s game as an area of improvement is adding a back dribble when encountering traffic. Not forcing the issue and adding some pace and deception will go a long way to becoming more efficient.
Monson is a talented prospect with a wealth of tools and athletic ability. Her size and ball skill are unique at this stage in development. She proved she can navigate the court with confident ball handling and make plays all around the court. The strength of her game now could be her outside shooting ability. She has a pretty stroke from beyond the arc and will punish defenders who are slow to close out. Continuing to add strength and maximize her athleticism will be Monson’s goal over the next few years. Proving that she can take the “bump and grind” in high level competitions will color in the picture of Monson’s complete game.
