Smith’s dedication to the game was never more apparent as it was the summer. She showed up to work at nearly every Academy stop that we hosted. With club basketball disrupted because of COVID-19, Smith was determined not to allow that to disrupt her basketball development. When Smith got into a groove shooting the basketball this summer, she was one of the most impactful players to suit up for the BCS Training Select team. Smith is a shooter through and through as she is willing to pull at a moment’s notice. She will also spotlight as a lead handler in spots. She can lead the break and can make the pass that leads to a score consistently. The key for Smith in all her development is staying focused on details. From keeping a consistent shooting pocket on her jumper to staying locked in as a defender away from the ball, if Smith can tune in consistently, she will see her production continue to be on the steady incline. – Coach Hemi
From Brandon Clay's Spotlight Workout (6/20/2020)
Smith was just with us in Atlanta two weekends again and is really committed to growing her game. Our staff is starting to see signs of her being a consistent shooter inside of elite competitive drills. She’s got bonafide college prospects closing out to her still hitting the open jumper. Smith is also showing the beginning of being able to attack into a pull up floater when the closeout is a hard one from the defender.

This was our fourth time working with Smith this summer. We knew coming in that she can really shoot the basketball. What we had not seen was a chance to watch her in live gameplay the way we did with Brandon Clay Select this weekend. There’s a calmness and patience that Smith is starting to play with usually reserved for college veterans. She’s contributing in all facets of the game in battles against college bound guards.

Smith had an elite weekend shooting the ball. She’s no stranger to our staff having trained at three academies during the summer months showing improvement at each one. Smith hit for 20 points on six 3-pointers in our first game then hit multiple 3-pointers in the two games after. Smith’s defense improved as a result of playing and communicating with other college bound prospects as well.
Smith’s growth over the past two years is exactly what we envisioned when our Academy program took flight. Finding talented ball players like Smith and assisting with their growth on floor and subsequent recruitment is a win / win for everyone involved. Smith is much more assertive in game now with the confidence to attack any drill we throw her way during training sessions. -- Brandon Clay
Smith showed an expanded off the dribble game during this camp. Her craftiness with the ball allowed her to slink through the defense and make plays in the lane. This added ability is a great compliment to her already consistent shooting. She has a consistent follow through and range beyond the arc. She has room to improve on her shooting pocket. Eliminating the dip will help her get her shot off quicker and will make her even more consistent in the future. -- Coach Hemi
