McCutcheon is one of the nation's premier point guards. She has a polished skill set and an advanced understanding of the game. The most underrated part of McCutcheon's game is her athleticism. Her ability to defend her position and even rebound in the lane makes her one of the nation's ELITE. She has embraced the role of a distributor, but has the ability to create her own shot when necessary. While McCutcheon might be out-sized at the next level, do not expect her to be out-classed. We project that Taryn should be able to contribute early on in her playing days in East Lansing.

June 2014 - EBA Super 64 Camp (Suwanee, Ga.) - Jonathan Hemingway
McCutcheon has established herself as one of the ELITE point guards nationally in her class. She has played toe to toe with many of her peers and showed that she more than belonged. She does it with an array of skill and surprising athleticism for her size. Her ability to create space and get her shot is tough to guard. On the defensive end, she hounds the ball handler and prevents the opposing ball handler from making easy decisions.
McCutcheon, who is a tireless competitor, strives to improve with each outing and competes with herself as much as she competes versus the competition. Her challenge will be to pick her spots as when to score or distribute. Especially as she begins to compete against more elite competition, trying to score every possession is not realistic. Using the mental side of the game to set up her defender will become as important as the physical.
