ORLANDO, Florida – The Coach Hemi Showcase was hosted at Colonial High School and featured 60 prospects from around the South. Players had the exclusive opportunity to run through a series of individual skills breakdown and live drills over the two-day showcase. Here is a look at some of the weekend’s top standouts.
Hannah Pratt (Boca Raton, Florida) Boca Raton HS – 2018
Pratt showcased a variety of skills over the duration of the showcase. Her length was very disruptive for offensive players around the rim and out on the wing. She had multiple blocked shots during live action where she altered the shot and was able to gain possession and take off on the break. Pratt was also impressive on the offensive side of the ball, where she consistently knocked down mid-range jumpers and used her size to slash in the paint. Her confidence has grown with the development of her game, and she plays with a physical toughness that really allowed her to shine in this event.
Brylee Bartram (Seffner, Florida) Seffner Christian – 2019
Bartram is a guard who can light it up from the perimeter. She connects on a high percentage of shots from 3-point range and continues to add new offensive dimensions to her game. Her footwork before she catches the ball has steadily become better with each event and that keeps the defense off balance. She brings energy on the defensive end and took the role of vocal leader for her team during 5-on-5 competition. Bartram can score, defend and always brings her blue-collar work ethic which make her a prospect that we will continue to track.
Ashaunti Brown (Longwood, Florida) Lyman HS – 2018
At 6-foot-3, Brown made her presence felt quickly in the skills breakdown session on Saturday. She has a good feel in the paint and demonstrated patience and body control while operating with the ball in her hands. Her willingness to defend and rebound caused her to stand out amongst the rest because she could turn a defensive play into an outlet for an easy bucket. Brown completed multiple plays through contact and ran the floor extremely well on Sunday.
Nateria Freeman (Palm Beach Gardens, Florida) Dwyer HS – 2018
Freeman is an intriguing prospect given her size and mobility. Standing at 6-1 she has the length to rebound and affect the game in the painted area. Yet she has the footwork and agility to play the game away from the basket. Her athleticism will give her the ability to defend multiple positions on the court. However, her ability to face up slower opponents at the elbow make her a legitimate offensive weapon. Catch her this spring and summer on the travel circuit with playing with the newly formed Ball 4 Lyfe organization in South Florida.
Alisa Marlow (Orlando, Florida) Colonial HS – 2018
Marlow’s length and energy were apparent from the beginning of day one. Her athleticism allows her to be a versatile player at the forward position and she has a mid-range game that could stretch the defense in the high post. She does a great job of using her speed to her advantage to grab a board or blow by a defender and get to the rim.
Audrey Ramsey (Boca Raton, Florida) Boca Raton HS – 2019
After hitting the game winning 3-pointer to help Boca Raton High School secure the Florida 9A state championship earlier in the week, Ramsey brought that same energy and momentum into the showcase. She proved that she could consistently score and impact the game in a variety of ways throughout the entire weekend. Ramsey is a high-IQ player that can operate out at the point, as well as the wing, and demonstrated the ability to make plays at both positions. She has great vision made very few mistakes with the ball in her hands.
Quick Hitters
The host school, Colonial, was represented very well with the likes of Kharis Idom and Jamila Fields. Idom is a wing with size, skill and a polish to her game. Fields proved to be an attacking combo guard who can hit floaters in the lane.
Tampa Thunder was well represented at the Coach Hemi Showcase. Class of 2018 guards Mary Martha Turner (Atlanta, Georgia), Polina Ovchinnikova and Arina Ovchinnikova (Bradenton, Florida) had a solid weekend showcasing their abilities to knock down shots.
Mary Wilson (Greenwood, Indiana) and Christina Kline (Winter Garden, Florida) have size and the mid-range game to complement their skill on the wing. Wilson, a 2021 prospect, was diving on every loose ball over the weekend and Kline, class of 2019, brought toughness and grit on every possession.
Class of 2020 guard Ryleigh Calcutt of Winter Springs, Florida, demonstrated skill and playmaking ability in the back court. She is a high-IQ point guard with court awareness, vision, and a consistent mid-range game.
Florida Lightning class of 2018 guards Cayln Richardson (Orlando, Florida) and Taylor Stelley (Kissimmee, Florida) impressed with their ball handling, slashing, and scoring performances. In addition, these two are very good on-ball defenders.
Class of 2020 guard Mary McMillan of Orlando, Florida, has a full offensive arsenal and an explosive first step from the point guard position. She has extended range on her jumper and crafty while operating through traffic. Her skill and rhythm at the point make her an attractive prospect.
