Ovchinnikova is a fundamental guard who dribbles, passes and shoots well. She has a complete offensive game that allows her to play either back court position. Her jumper has always been solid, but she has made improvements even in recent months. Her release and wrist snap has allowed her to be a competent shooter out to the 3-point arc. Her area of focus heading into her senior year should be on the defensive end. Playing lower in a stance will be the most important skill to enhance to allow her to try to contain quicker offensive players.
Polina is a defensive specialist that plays the game with a lot of energy. She has a motor that runs consistently. In game play she was able to work the glass and rebound in and out of her area. Her jumper continues to make progression.
Polina is a student of the game. She is a player that constantly wants to get better and is soaking up instruction from coaches and instructors in this camp setting. She showed the ability to pass and feed the post in the game setting. Her feel for the game and fundamentals she possesses will always ensure that she is productive. Defensively she has good awareness in helpside. She anticipates plays and gets into the right position. Moving forward, the development of her left hand and adding range on her jumper will be the most important skills to focus upon.
Polina is a strong, aggressive guard who showed solid ball handling skills this weekend. She is a hard worker that brings toughness to the floor. She showed nice touch on her jumper, especially off the dribble around the rim. Although she gives great effort on the defensive end, learning how to anticipate plays will help her become an even more effective defender. In the end, Polina is a solid ball player that does a good job on both ends of the floor.
