ORLANDO, Florida  – The BrandonClayScouting.com National Training Academy has become the nation’s premier proving ground to train with and compete against elite competition. Our favorite part of the showcase is working with campers during our Spotlight Session Workout. Here are the takeaways from the session:

Eleecia Carter (Winter Garden, FL), CFE – 2023

Carter’s got a fantastic vibe at the guard spot. She’s already possesses the skill set to complete almost any footwork that can be taught in thes settings. Her skill set is worth noting as she has an upper hand on most of the kids in her class with her ability to comprehend what is being taught in a timely fashion. Add that to her athletic ability and Carter is one to keep an eye going forward.

Cheesman’s dedication to improvement has been on display seemingly every single moment that we’ve been on the floor in the past 12 months. From Atlanta to Nashville to Orlando, the future Vanderbilt Commodore has brought a laser like focus couple with a leadership vibe that can’t be taught. Cheesman showed here the ability to stretch her range all the way out to the 3-point line forcing opposing defenses to guard her both inside and outside.

Jaela Davis (Lutz, FL), Tampa Thunder Team Dupree – 2022

Davis is a fantastic option off the ball capable of getting into the lane off the bounce or hitting the open shot. She has a frame that still leaves her room to get stronger at the college level which will only enhance her overall ability. Davis has the lateral quickness to be a real threat as an on-ball defender as well.

Freeth’s game continues to grow as she dedicates herself to consistent training. She has good size on the wing and after working with us last weekend in Indiana made the trek to Orlando to do it again. The most impressive thing to me about Freeth is that she always has a positive attitude in the midst of the training. She gets it and understands that the process takes time. That’s a special quality.

Ajalon Gillard

Gillard has the intelligence of a college freshman guard with two years remaining of high school. She understands how to work and that every rep is a chance to improve her game. In that regard, Gillard is far beyond her years. She’s a more than capable ball handler and has the skill to make the open jumper as well. As Gillard keeps getting stronger physically, she’ll keep improving as a result.

Sierra Godbolt (Maitland, FL), Central Florida Elite – 2022

Godbolt has a blend of smoothness to go along with some burst as well. She’s been on our radar for several years and showed that she’s been in the Lab continuing to improve her skill set. Godbolt was able to get downhill off the bounce using her strength to be explosiveness in doing so. Skill wise, she projects to spend good minutes at the next level playing either guard position based on style and need.

Nicole Hollowell (Orlando, FL), East River HS – 2022

Hollowell showcased herself as an emerging option in the backcourt capable of making an open shot when need be. She was completely dialed in during the shooting session working on making sure she finished every shot with a consistent one-second follow through. Based on our work here, Hollowell projects as a potential shot maker from the guard spot in that regard.

Karyzma Pierre (Orlando, FL), Oak Ridge HS – 2023

Pierre’s game is cool as the other side of the pillow and even appears effortless at times. Trust us, she’s working. Pierre’s willingness to take coaching and instruction was on full display here as we trained on her jump shot mechanics. She has the length and skill on the wing to handle the ball, attack off the dribble and be a threat from the outside. Pierre’s length allows her to be a rebounder from the position too.

Isabella Prada (Odessa, FL), Tampa Thunder Select – 2021

Prada came in with a bounce and sharp looking outside shot. Her ability to make the open jumper forces defenses into a tough spot and in turn allows her to attack the lane. Prada was super coachable in this setting looking like a next level guard in the process. She’s got good instincts and should also be a consistent threat defensively by calling over coverages, reads.

Jordan Race (West Palm Beach, FL), Boca Thunder – 2023

We’ve literally watched Race grow up in front of our very eyes. Her ability to make shots jumps off the page but more than that is her ability to use her length to be effective on both ends of the floor. Race understands what it takes firsthand to make it to the next level. Her older sisters, Haley and Taylor, both went on to play college basketball while her father, Chris, serves as her high school coach.

Carmen Richardson (Orlando, FL), Central Florida Elite – 2024

Like Race, Richardson has seen an older sister make it to the college level. Carmen has a chance to do that herself someday but for now is focused on having a strong freshman season. A more than capable shooter, Richardson has the game to be a consistent threat from the outside coupled with the size to be an effective wing scorer.

Milan Santos (Orlando, FL), Central Florida Elite – 2023

Santos is a dynamic option off the bounce capable of setting the table at the 1 then leading the defense on the other end. Competitive guards like Santos are hard to come by especially ones who don’t take a single drill off. That’s exactly what happened here with Santos giving consistent effort in every drill we did here.

Lauren Stewart (Flagler Beach, FL), HD Elite – 2022

Stewart has the size and hand coordination that colleges covet from their interior prospects. She was able to be effective inside of the pinch post work that we did here. Stewart’s ability to catch, turn and pivot going either direction makes her a threat offensively in a modern day era that rewards versatility in the post.

Kyleigh Welsh (Clearwater, FL), Tampa Phenoms – 2022

Welsh showed the talent to be a next level prospect in the post. She’s still growing her game as a whole with the ability to keep leveling up over the next couple of years. Welsh worked in tandem with Stewart during the Spotlight Session showing the tools needed to be a threat inside in time. If Welsh will stay dedicated to daily improvement, we believe that her best days of basketball are ahead of her.
