Siena brings a lot of fundamentals to the game. She plays within herself, which results in her being very efficient in what she does. She doesn’t try to over do it, which allows her to take the right shots at the right time, and make the right basketball decisions on the floor. Catagorized as somewhat of an important glue player, she has the ball in her hands quite a bit playing the guard position, so her decision making and assist to turnover ratio is an important measure of what she can bring to the floor offensively. She has a good grasp on what her strengths are and her deficiencies and she if she can continue to develop her strength, explosiveness and her jumper from range, that will only add to what she can provide for a team on the floor. She’s a smaller guard, capable of knocking down open jumpers, finding the open teammate, and handling point guard responsibilities. Ontiveros has already shown great improvement from the previous year.
| Ontiveros was a new 2017 guard at the Check Me Out Showcase in SoCal this past weekend. The 5'3 guard started off the weekend bringing high energy and showed she had a great, working skill set in the drill work session. Her handles looked crisp and she was very receptive to learning new combo moves. In the games, she kept her eyes up and was making smart reads from the point guard position. Saw her knock down some mid-range set shots, and a nice finish going baseline. Going forward, Ontiveros needs to gain more strength and command on the court. If she can focus on that, it will allow her to apply her skill set to the actual game on the floor more consistently. Overall, her attitude on the court was top notch and she was a great teammate. |
