McKinnon has been on our radar for years. Despite missing some time with injury, her game has progressed nicely over the past couple of years. McKinnon's 3-point shooting prowess gives us reason to believe she'll serve as a specialist in that regard at the collegiate level. McKinnon's game can still go up a level as she gets more comfortable using the one dribble pull-up to create shots on hard closeouts. -- Brandon Clay
McKinnon jumped out right away from previous outings with her willingness to be vocal on the floor. She’s getting much more comfortable attacking off the dribble. Her hesitation move has become her go-to and she’s a drive first perimeter player. Adding a consistent jumper and working through reads on when to drive and when to knock down jumpers is the next step in her game development.
McKinnon ran the point during academy games and proved herself to be a competent lead handler. She is a vocal leader and willing to run the break with her teammates. She is active on the defensive end. The 5-8 freshman harasses opposing ball handlers and makes life tough with her length and footwork. Working on playing lower in a stance, on both ends of the floor, should be of top priority for McKinnon. First, having her knees bent will allow her to be ready to shoot before the pass gets to her. Secondly, this could help her become more explosive with trying to scoot past defenders with her weak hand.
