The UCLA Bruins signed an incredible 2014 class and followed it up with a top 25 class for 2015. So it should be no surprise that Cori Close and her staff landed their first commitment in the 2016 class just as the juniors are kicking off their high school season.
On Monday morning, Allyson Rosenblum of Newport Coast, Calif., gave UCLA her verbal commitment. The 6-foot-3 forward and Mater Dei junior also considered Arizona State, Nebraska, Oregon State, Washington and West Virginia.

I absolutely love Coach Cori (Close) and her vision. I believe in it and want to be a part of it, Rosenblum said. I also love how she is about developing a total woman and not just focused on the basketball aspect. I just love what UCLA is about.
Rosenblum, who is ranked No. 47 in the ELITE 60 for the 2016 class, will bring skill and versatility to either of the traditional post positions for the Bruins. Her overall skill set is impressive and she can play either the high or low post and make plays. Her physicality and aggressiveness have improved, especially in the past year.
Rosenblum fits the mold of the type of frontcourt player targeted by the Bruins in the Close era. Like 2015 signees Ashley Hearn and Kennedy Burke she has the ability to play multiple positions. But were those two project to play some three and four spots, Rosenblum is a power forward who has logged plenty of minutes as low post, tradition five player.
UCLA looks to have depth across the board for years to come and Rosenblum will complement current freshmen Monique Billings and LaJahna Drummer as well as red shirt freshmen Paulina Hersler and Savanna Trapp. The Bruins could use three more scholarships in the class, targeting a small number of kids that fill specific needs or carry them forward to the 2017 class. In either scenario the roster looks strong in Westwood in the not too distant future.
