Barrett is coming off of a 2022-23 campaign that included her winning Region Player of the Year, playing with Southeast All Stars and accepting a scholarship offer to Anderson University (SC). A large part of Barrett's success is due to her willingness to get in the gym and work on her game. Barrett scored her 1,000th career point on a Friday afternoon and was back in the gym with me on Saturday morning at 10:00 sitting in a Normatec then getting 45 minutes of concentrated footwork reps in. Every rep was based on game shots she receives with her school team. That dedication sets Barrett apart from the vast majority of her peers. -- Brandon Clay
Barrett had an elite school season. She finished averaging just shy of 20 points while stacking the categories nightly in assists and rebounds as well. She had 26 points, eight rebounds and seven assists in the first round of the state tournament. In that regard, Barrett's game has done exactly what I projected as her confidence and leadership went to new heights this season. She is turning into one of the better jump shooters inside the Peach State and added a scholarship offer from Anderson in the process. Barrett is poised to have a breakout spring / summer starting at the Elite 100 Showcase in March. -- Brandon Clay
Barrett is coming into her own as a prospect. She is becoming more aggressive with the ball in her hands. She gets to the hole quickly and effectively. Her awareness and instincts are also on the way up. The strength of her game continues to be her spot up jumper. She shoots the ball with confidence from distance and projects to be a player who can change the game for her team in that regard. Maximizing her lateral quickness and athleticism will be of interest for us in future evaluations.
Barrett is a wing with ideal length for her position. She projects to translate as a versatile prospect who will make a variety of plays on either end of the court. Right now the strength of her game centers around her shooting. She has a good shooting pocket and wrist snap when her feet are set. Her size also allows her to get her shot off against smaller guards along the perimeter. Add in the fact that she is super coachable and willing to improve, we believe that her best days of playing are still in front of her. The most immediate area of improvement for Barrett also centers around her jump shot. Making sure she holds a high follow through is extremely important for her consistency as a shooter. This combined with making sure the arc on her shot is up are small details that should help Barrett become a consistent knockdown shooter. -- Coach Hemi
