Shelby Nutter has had a strong spring season shooting the basketball.
Class of 2016 prospect Shelby Nutter of Nashville, Tenn., showed herself to be a shooting specialist during the spring camp season.
Vitals
Name: Shelby Nutter Grad Year: 2016
Location: Nashville, Tenn. School: Harpeth Hall
Current Position: PG/SG Projected Position: PG/SG
Strengths
Nutter can shoot the basketball consistently out past the 3-point line. The 5-foot-6 combo guard showed this spring that she can handle the basketball versus pressure as well. At the CoachHemi.com Showcase, Nutter played alongside McDonalds All-American Alexa Middleton. In the process, she knocked down multiple jump shots off of Middletons ability to penetrate and kick. If Nutter can continue to stretch defenses when she has those types of clean looks, her ability to make shots coupled with her high IQ will keep her in the rotation.
Area To Improve
Getting stronger will be a point of emphasis for Nutter over the course of the next year. Added strength should allow her to take contact and still finish plays off of the dribble in the lane. Showing the skill to play the point guard position against high caliber competition will also be an area that we keep tabs on in her development throughout the course of the off season and the 2014-15 school season as well.
The Bottom Line
Nutter holds a 3.97 GPA in the classroom and has scored in the 90th percentile on the PSAT. She is a versatile option in the backcourt. ProspectsNation.com Evaluator Jonathan Hemingway says that Nutter is a skilled, shot making guard who could excel at either backcourt position at the collegiate level.
