The Big Ten and Pac-12 made big headlines this past week as the Week In Review looks at the week’s commitment stories.

Michigan’s Start On 2015

In the heart of recruiting season for the 2014 class, Michigan coach Kim Barnes-Arico and her staff managed to secure verbal pledges from two top 2015 prospects this week and jumpstart the efforts to secure an impact 2015 recruiting class. Point guard Lauren Brozoski of Cambria Heights, N.Y., and wing Nicole Munger of Doylestown, Pa., both made verbal pledges to be members of Michigan’s 2015 recruiting class.

Munger is a skilled wing with the ability to score the ball in spots while also stretching the floor and making perimeter jumpers. She is a tough prospect who will compete on both sides of the ball. Brozoski gives the Big Ten school a capable playmaker who is known for taking care of the ball and making quality decisions from the point guard position. Another major strength to Brozoski’s game is her ability to put pressure on the ball defensively.

With the Wolverines’ 2014 verbal commitment, Katelynn Flaherty of Pleasant Beach, N.J., on the way next year and Brozoski coming in two years the point guard position is in good shape in Ann Arbor.

Powell Counters

Class of 2014 post Katie Powell of Duluth, Ga., committed to Arkansas last month after an official visit to the SEC school. This week the 6-foot-4 post prospect decided to make a switch and pick Texas Christian as her future school of choice. Powell gives TCU a stretch post prospect with the ability to shoot the ball from the perimeter and match up well against post players defensively. Powell’s cousin, is 6-foot-7 prospect Nancy Mulkey of Cypress, Texas. Look for TCU to make Mulkey a priority in the 2016 class.

Clemson Gets Perry

Clemson scored a verbal commitment from 5-10 combo guard Chanelle Perry of Camden, N.J., this week. Perry’s addition to Clemson’s 2014 recruiting class gives the first year coach Audra Smith six prospects for the class of 2014. With post players Makayla Johnson of Columbia, S.C., Ivy Atkism of Monroe, Ga., Justice Wright of Warner Robbins, Ga., guard Shelbie Davenport of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Alexis Carter of Tigard, Ore. As the No. 136 ranked player in the ELITE 150, Perry becomes Clemson’s second highest rated commitment behind Johnson at No. 115.
