SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- The second annual ShesBallin.com Evaluation Camp brought 120 prospects looking to showcase their skills to the forefront. Here’s a look at some of the underclass prospects who made an impression with their play.

Desiree Caldwell (San Antonio, Texas) - 2018

This was our first evaluation of Caldwell in the new year. She’s grown about three inches standing around 5-4 since the last time that our staff watched her play and with that has come an even more consistent shooting stroke. Just in the seventh grade, the sharp-shooting perimeter prospect showed she is willing to make the extra pass to find open teammates as well.

Caldwell is always talking on both ends of the floor showing early leadership skills at the point guard position. That leadership coupled with a willingness to defend on the basketball makes her a unique prospect at this age. She even took on her older sister, Recee’, in what became a spirited game of one-on-one after the camp had come to a close.

SPOTLIGHT PLAYERS

Avionne Alexander (Sunnyvale, Texas) - 2017

Alexander is a familiar face as we saw the young perimeter prospect play three times during the 2012 calendar year. It was apparent right away that Alexander hasn’t stopped working on her game coming into our first evaluation of the new year intent to make plays on both ends of the hardwood. She’s a strong guard with the skill to knock down the open jumper and attack the lane off of the bounce.

Kianna Williams (San Antonio, Texas) - 2017

Williams is a speedster with good size and skill at either guard position. Her ability to create off of the bounce in transition this early is impressive as the 5-7 guard continually found her way into the paint off of drive. As her frame fills out, Williams should become stronger and even tougher on the drive as she adds the skill to take contact then still finish the shot attempt.

AROUND THE RIM

♦ Remember the name Nyah Green out of Wylie, Texas. The young wing player was in a league of her own at times during the event showing the skill set of a high school varsity player already. Her game drew rave reviews from both opposing players and our staff.

♦ Speedster is the term we use to define guards like Gabby Connally of San Antonio, Texas. Connally is a blur with the basketball in her hands consistently beating defenders with a two-step head start on her in a race to the rim on the other end of the floor.

♦ Taylor Green of Austin, Texas, was a participant at the inaugural She’s Ballin camp in March of 2012. The 5-7 guard has improved her shooting ability over the past twelve months and looked comfortable here letting the ball fly early and often.

♦ Briana and Kianana Suber of Bryan, Texas, are two prospects that we will certainly keep an eye on going forward. Both are good athletes with high motors. Briana has a game that is a little more perimeter oriented than her sister who does more of her damage on the interior.

♦ Daly Sullivan of South Bend, Ind., took the plane flight to San Antonio to be a part of the festivities. The 5-8 guard remembered to pack her A Game showing that she can score and defend with some of the best that the Lone Star State has to offer.
