Sims continues along her steady path of development. She is hitting the spot up jumper even more consistently than in past evaluations. She is also confident in her handle and doing a better job of changing directions with the ball in her hands. She is also pest when it comes to hounding opposing ball handlers with her quick hands and feet. Working on getting a wider base with the ball in her hands should help her become more explosive when putting the ball on the deck.
Sims is a guard with great energy for the game. She is a vocal and is a brings a vibe that helps get her teammates going. She showed solid ball handling skill and the ability to use either hand to pass around the perimeter. Her midrange pull-up is solid along with her willingness to move without the ball. Her aggressiveness translates to being a good on the ball defender. Working on getting more arc on her 3-point shot should be a point of priority for her moving forward.
Sims is a smaller combo guard with energy and a passion for the game. She hit the spot up jumper well and went hard in the drills. Her high energy attitude and willingness to talk stood out during this camp session. We expect Sims to be able to contribute on teams that need defensive versatility in the back court and a need for timely shot making. One detail that Sims can tighten up is her footwork on her jumper. Making sure that her feet are under her shoulders will help ensure that she keeps consistency either shooting off the dribble or on the spot up. – Coach Hemi
