Wheeler, 5'7 point guard that has a floor general mentality with an attacking ability. One of the highest IQ players at camp, she has good instincts making decisions with the ball in her hands. Offensively, she is capable of scoring off the bounce and knocking down 3s with range. She knows how to get her feet set when she sees an opening. She also attacks well going right and utilizes the midrange at times, which is an area she can further take advantage. Going forward, better utilizing her left when she is attacking the rim is something she can improve on because she has good decisiveness in the lane. Defensively, she likes to get up and put pressure on the defense and really move her feet. Its good to watch the reads she makes with her IQ to jump the passing lane in timely situations. Passing is an area she likes to exploit, but a focus for her can be getting better angles to pass on the interior. Overall, Wheeler is a proactive player who has a lot of basketball experience for her age and has a rhythm about her play that translates positively in a variety of settings on the floor.
Wheeler is a 5'6 guard in the 2020 class that is as savvy a guard as they come. She possess the true point guard skillset, but is also a lethal scorer that gives her an even wider range of impact. Her ability to manuever the lane and creatively make plays that require a high level court sense is special. Her ball skills give her the tools to get to any spot on the floor and as we've mentioned in the past, she has a knack for making things happen quickly. What's great to see beyond her ball-handling is her ability to move without the ball, get to an open space on the floor and release her shot with a quick a trigger. Defensively, Wheeler plays tough on-ball defense, and has good anticipation skills. Continuing to build strength will allow her to be a a more physical rebounder and will elevate her impact on the defensive end. Overall, Wheeler brings it when she steps on the floor and has an ability to bring the game to a whole new life with her creative mindset.
Wheeler is a 5'6 true point guard and floor general in the class of 2020. She brings command and leadership both offensively and defensively. What is great about her is her ability to make things happen quickly. She is very creative off the bounce and is effective in using the behind the back dribble. She looks for opportunities to expose the defense, and can knock down the perimeter 3-ball coming off a screen. Her court sense is at a high level and teams are more in control when she is running them. Areas of improvement for her will be developing more strength and going more north/south to the rim. Overall, Wheeler is an impressive guard and has so much upside to her play that bodes well for her over the course of the next few years.
Wheeler is a high motor kid, with good activity and energy. She’s a great perimeter defender with length and lateral quickness. Only in the 2020 class, she’s showing strong signs of leadership with her good communication skills and the way she directs her teammates on the floor. Offensively, she has a smooth looking shot she can shoot off the dribble or off the pass. She showed good court vision, awareness and play making ability in the 5-on-5 games, along with a lot of energy and intensity both offensively and defensively. Moving forward, Hanna should look to improve her poise when the game starts to speed up and continue to focus on controlling the flow of the game as a point guard and floor leader. Overall, Wheeler showed a lot of maturity for a young point guard and a great deal of upside in her approach to the game.
