Jernigan has played her way into the upper echelon of guards in the southeast region and across the country. She has a unique combination of bounce and athleticism coupled with height on the perimeter. Jernigan's ability to keep the floor spaced out beyond the 3-point line will serve her well going forward. Jernigan distinguishes herself as an exceptionally tough and physical player, thriving across all three scoring levels while displaying proficiency on both the offensive and defensive ends of the court. Her versatility as a left-handed guard/wing is further amplified by her athleticism and well-rounded skill set. Beyond her offensive prowess, her competitive drive, combined with a robust work ethic and coachable demeanor, adds to her strengths. As she continues to progress, emphasizing consistent efficiency, particularly in her outside shooting, will be crucial for her ongoing development. Moreover, Jernigan's elite and versatile defensive capabilities, allowing her to guard all perimeter positions, as well as contribute to rebounding efforts from the perimeter, are additional facets that make her a standout player and put her squarely in the ELITE 60 conversation in her class.
Jernigan is on the way up in the Tar Heel State. She is a lanky wing with size, shooting range and a developing playmaking skill set. She showed range to the arc with her jumper while also being a threat to get to the rim to score. Working on playing lower in a stance and landing with a wide base on her jumper will be key as she bumps up a level.

In a long line of quality backcourt play to emerge from the area, Jernigan appears to have next up. She’s still growing into her body and game playing with prospects three to four years her senior here. Jernigan’s ability to shoot the 3-pointer with a consistent 2-handed, one second followthrough is the next step in her development. The talent and work ethic both seem to be in place for her to be successful as time goes on.

The mechanics on Jernigan’s shot were much improved from our training session earlier in the month. There were multiple racks of 10 shots a piece where she was making nine if not all 10 of her shots. For a prospect still in middle school, that bodes well for Jernigan’s future. Like Childress, Jernigan can continue to look for her shot inside of competition more as time goes on.
