Briggs is a guard with a good build and athleticism. She highlighted her defensive ability during this showcase. Her quick hands and feet allow her the ability to disrupt her opponents. Given her size and foot quickness, we believe that Briggs could become quite the defensive asset. She can defend multiple perimeter positions, which could be critical when coaches want to switch or implement more advanced defensive schemes. On the offensive end, Briggs has the tools to be impactful as well. She handles and shoots the ball with confidence. Showing a diversity of dribble moves might be the next step for her to elevate her game. – Coach Hemi
From Brandon Clay's Spotlight Workout
Briggs has been with our staff before and looked comfortable from the first teaching point here in her home state. She’s got good size and shooting ability already before getting to high school. She’s a confident scorer in that regard. Briggs has another level she can top into learning how to use her body to shield defenders from the ball off the attack and the dribble.
Briggs proved herself as a capable jump shooter from the perimeter. She was particularly effective in the spot up role. She has a quick trigger and gets the ball out quickly. However, she was also very good at moving without the ball and getting to the open spot. This skill is often underrated, but Briggs seems to understand the importance of constant movement on the offensive end. She also attacked the bucket with her weak hand when the defense closed out tight. The one area we did not see enough of in this evaluation was Briggs off the dribble game. Proving that she can score off the pull-up in the midrange will be key for her development.
Briggs is a young guard who proved she could score the ball from the perimeter and in the lane. She hit 3s with time during the 5/5 portion of camp. She was also effective at hitting floaters in the lane. If there is a specific detail that she can polish up heading into off-season workouts it is working on getting a higher release point on her jump shot. Making sure she keeps her elbow under the ball will help her become a consistent perimeter shooter. – Coach Hemi
Briggs was one of the youngest campers on hand. She has the size and length early to project as a quality option on the perimeter. Briggs ability and willingness to pay attention to detail at such a young age bodes well for her future. In game, she didn’t look out of place in the least. For Briggs, keep an eye on how her offensive aggressiveness develops over the next 12 months. The physical tools are there for her to take a large step forward in the right direction. – Brandon Clay
