Nebraska Lands Haiby
Class of 2018 guard Sam Haiby of Moorhead, Minnesota has made a verbal pledge to play her college basketball at Nebraska. Haiby, who was starting to become a hot name throughout the Midwest with programs from the Big Ten, Big 12 and other conferences beginning to take note, gives Nebraska their fourth commitment for the class of 2018. The 5-foot-8 guard joins four-star forwards Kayla Mershon of Minnetonka, Minnesota and Ashtyn Veerbeek of Hull, Iowa as well as three-star guard Leigha Brown of Waterloo, Iowa.
For Nebraska, Haiby will be able to bring playmaking and shotmaking to both guard positions. In EYBL play, Haiby is averaging 8.0 points a game for her North Tartan team.
Cunningham Picks Princeton
Earlier this week, Princeton added 5-foot-10 guard, Julia Cunningham of Warren, N.J., to their 2018 class. Cunningham, who picked the Ivy League school over Wisconsin, where her she had a family member attend college, is an excellent perimeter shooter who also has the ability to score the ball at all three levels. Her commitment to the Ivy League school keeps a trend going for Ivy League programs which are getting their hands on four-star caliber prospects with regularity. In the 2018 class, Princeton already holds a commitment from ELITE 150 guard Grace Stone while the University of Pennsylvania recently added Kennedy Suttle, a highly regarded three-star prospect from Atlanta, Georgia.
Stetson Gets Fizoutay
Stetson coach Lynn Bria and her staff received good news this week when 5-foot-8 guard Bianca Fizoutay of Snellville, Ga., made a verbal commitment to play at the A-Sun program. During her prep career, Fizoutay has shown the ability to make shots on the perimeter in catch and shoot situations while also being versatile enough to play as a combo guard and handle point guard responsibilities when needed. With her commitment, Stetson is adding talent and depth to one of the A-Sun's most talented backcourts. As she will join three-star guard Jordan Cloutier as a member of the 2018 class and the pair of Fizoutay and Cloutier will join Adriana Ellis who just ended her freshman season and Shania Meertens who will be arriving on campus in the Fall. Both Ellis and Meertens were four-star prospects out of high school.
