When we revise the class of 2016 rankings in the upcoming weeks, class of 2016 post Jordan Wilmoth of Township of Washington, N.J., is likely to be in the mix as a member of the ELITE 60. This week, Wilmoth made a verbal pledge to play her college basketball at Dayton. Wilmoth picked the Atlantic-10 school over a number of highly regarded programs such as Stanford and St. Johns.
Wilmoth, who stands 6 feet 3, is a prospect with a nice foundation of physical tools who has added skill and polish to her game. She rates out very well in all the natural ability areas -- she has great size, very good mobility and frame that will allow her to play around the rim. For Wilmoth though, the strength of her game is more than just natural ability. She has developed an accurate mid-range jumper and had an excellent feel for how to play the game with and without the basketball.
For Dayton Wilmoth is the next in a long line of ELITE 100 caliber prospects that the school has been able to add over the past half-decade. Former McDonalds All American Ally Malott, a current junior, being one noteworthy name. Wilmoth joins forward Jayla Scaife of Muncie, Ind., as the second class of 2016 player to make a verbal commitment to Dayton. Both Scaife and Wilmoth are ELITE 60 caliber prospects and have the potential to make an instant impact at Dayton.
AROUND THE RIM
4-Star wing Espinoza Hunter to Connecticut: Class of 2017 wing, Andra Espinoza Hunter of Ossining, N.Y., made a verbal pledge to Connecticut earlier in the week. At 5-10, Espinoza Hunter is a player that likes to shoot the ball from the outside and is still developing her overall skill set. Getting stronger and buying into the defensive side of the ball will be key in her development moving forward and as she makes the jump from high school to Connecticut. Consistency will be another key.
3-Star wing Taylor to BC:Boston College picked up perimeter depth with the addition of Jasmine Taylor of Springfield, Va., this week. Taylor, who is a member of the class of 2016, is at her best when attacking the basket and working off the bounce. She is an above average perimeter defender who should give the Eagles more toughness at the shooting guard and small forward positions.
