Prospects from both the 2014 and 2015 classes continue to blaze the recruiting trail in June. ProspectsNation.com’s Week In Review looks at the headlines from this past week in player commitments.

No. 98 Carter to Georgia

When Jasmine Carter of Dacula, Ga., called coach Andy Landers and gave him her verbal pledge to the SEC school, she became the first member of Georgia’s 2014 class. Carter, a 5-foot-8 shooting guard who is currently rated as the No. 98 player in the ELITE 100, picked the Lady Dawgs over Purdue, South Carolina, and Vanderbilt. Carter will give Georgia an athletic guard with a solid mid-range jumper. Her ability to guard her position and score the ball on the offensive side of the ball should allow her to fit in well in the SEC.

Look for Georgia to continue to build around their first addition to the 2014 class as the July recruiting period arrives. Georgia is actively recruiting a number of prospects including posts Mackenzie Engram of Powder Springs, Ga., and Nasheema Oliver of Crisp Country, Ga., as well as point guard Katelynn Flaherty of Point Pleasant, N.J., and forward Myisha Hines-Allen of Montclair, N.J.

No. 92 Ellison to Maryland

Maryland was able to add the third player in their 2014 class when 6-3 post Aja Ellison of Vorhees, N.J., accepted a scholarship and made a verbal pledge to the ACC school. Ellison, whose dad Pervis Ellison played 11 years in the NBA, is a developing post player with good athleticism and upside. She has vastly improved her skill set over the past couple of years and her rise as a prospect earned her the No. 92 rank nationally in the ELITE 100. In addition to Ellison, Maryland currently holds verbal commitments from Kiara Leslie of Raleigh, N.C., and Kristen Confroy of Cleveland, Ohio.

AROUND THE RIM

Griffin Dempsey to Charlotte: Dempsey, a 2014 four-star point guard from Proctorville, Ohio, will give the Charlotte 49ers a true floor general with a lethal perimeter shooting stroke. Dempsey picked Charlotte over a number of schools including Clemson, Middle Tennessee and North Carolina State

Brianna Cummings to George Washington: Cummings, a 2014 prospect from Atlanta, Ga., is a four-star prospect who can play multiple positions on the floor and knockdown the open perimeter jumper. Her addition to the George Washington roster gives them good versatility in addition to a solid athlete with a good basketball IQ.

Ivy Atkism to Clemson: With her play this spring, Atkism earned a fourth star here on Prospects Nation. She is a true post player who can score with her back to the basket. The class of 2014 prospect will help bolster Clemson’s frontline and give them a true post to recruit around as they fill out the rest of their class.

Tory Jacobs to Minnesota: Jacobs of Arlington, Texas, is a skilled combo guard who should fit in well at Minnesota. She can shoot the ball off the bounce and in catch and shoot situations. In addition to Minnesota, Jacobs, a class of 2014 prospect, considered Memphis and others.
