BUFORD, Georgia, -- Travel basketball still exists in the gaps where the college coaches cannot attend events. Teams are looking for tournaments where they can sharpen their execution and chemistry. While players can still gain valuable exposure while playing in front of media and national scouting service evaluators. The PSB May Day tournament brought together 40 teams from around the Southeast and accomplished all those needs. Here is a look back at the teams and players who made their mark during the tournament.

Program Director/Coach: Perryn Oglesby

Georgia is a state rich with basketball talent. The Ribbon Warriors are an example of how a college coach does not have to travel far to identify several prospects who have next level potential. After a 3-0 record at last weekend’s PSB May Day it is time to take a closer look at the roster of the Ribbon Warriors.

It starts with coach Perryn Oglesby’s daughter Victoria. Despite a couple of setbacks with knee injuries, Victoria shows no-ill effects as she has had several big games this spring. Her shooting ability from long range is her specialty, but she has also shown the ability to handle and set up her teammates with the pass. Oglesby committed to Old Dominion last year, but she has recently reopened her recruiting with the departure of coach Karen Barefoot to UNC-Wilmington. Per her father, Victoria is still strongly considering ODU and has fielded much interest since PSB Tip-Off Classic Session I and II in April.

Another sharp shooter that joins Oglesby in the backcourt is McKenzie Tyner. The class of 2018 combo guard shows her accurate shooting touch often. She backs it up with aggressive play on the defensive end. A true stock riser coming out of the spring evaluation weekends is Jasmin Allen of Jefferson, Georgia. The 6-foot forward is a do-it-all type of player who is showing more confidence in her jump shot near the top of the key. Add in the size of 6-foot forward Jasmin Sullivan and the Ribbon Warriors have a pair of forwards who can fill up the stat sheet.

Coach Oglesby has made sure his roster is filled with height. Class of 2019 6-2 post Torey Walker of Duluth, Georgia, is a player that has shown abilities to defend and rebound with the best on the PSB circuit. Add in 6-foot Kate Thompson of Athens, Georgia, and 6-2 Nia Johnson of Jefferson, Georgia, and the Ribbon Warriors have the length to make life tough for opponents in the lane. Class of 2018 forward Zaniaya Williams of Duluth, Georgia, could be the most intriguing prospect at times. Her blend of size, strength and versatility makes her a tough match-up for defenders.

The Ribbon Warriors have another pair of guards that bring ball handling and a defensive presence. Bridget Mukasa of Buford, Georgia, is a 2018 prospect that is getting attention from college coaches following the spring eval periods. Add in the development of Bailey Bassette of Suwanee, Georgia, the Ribbons Warriors have a very well balanced team between guards and posts. Class of 2018 wing Helena Lee of Lawrenceville, Georgia, and class of 2019 wing Kaela Lewis of Alpharetta, Georgia, are players that we expect to see good things from this summer.

Around the Rim by @StephenPeckPSB

Rylee McCall of Clermont, Georgia, has a good feel for the game. The 2022-point guard is a playmaker and a floor general.

Jessica Hlavaty of Martinex, Georgia, gave the Georgia Sting a solid foundation in the post. The 2020 post player has real size at 6-2 and good touch around the rim.

Taela Whitehead of Burlington, North Carolina, was a scorer this weekend. She has good shooting form and a quick release with range from beyond the arc. The 2020 point guard looks to score.

Faith Arthur of Woodstock, Georgia, is a big wing and a methodical scorer and scored in many ways, she has a nice step back jumper.

Kailey Rory of Birmingham, Alabama showed that she that she could shoot the ball. She was successful on 5 attempts from beyond the arc in a tightly contested game at this event.

We like the activity and hustle of Jaleah Goff of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The class of 2018 wing brings energy on both ends of the court for Team B-Wright.
