CYPRESS, Texas - Coming off of a Nike Nationals title last summer, Cy-Fair Shock program director Al Coleman has built an evaluation camp rivaling any in the Houston Metropolitan Area all year long. A combination of top talent and quality instruction have made this a must attend for our staff. Here’s a look at three upperclass prospects who stood out during the event.

Makenzie Ellis (Tulsa, Okla.), Booker T Washington HS – 2015

Ellis has improved considerably since our staff saw her last summer at the USA Basketball national team trials last May. The 6-foot-2 power forward is versatile and willing to do all of the things needed for her team to win the ball game. In an individual showcase setting, Ellis’ play was both consistent and inspired. A three-star prospect, she set the table for a potential fourth star with a quality club season with Cy-Fair. Ellis has already chosen Texas Christian and if this evaluation is any indication of what is to come, coach Jeff Mittie has plenty of reason to be excited about Ellis coming on board in Fort Worth.

London Holland (McKinney, Texas), McKinney North – 2015

A lot has changed since the last time that our staff saw Holland play. The 5-8 junior guard moved to Texas from Colorado this season and recovered from an ACL injury as well. None of that has done anything to slow her progress on the hardwood. She made several standout plays by attacking the rim off of the bounce. More than anything, her consistent motor on both ends of the floor made us take note of how well she is moving these days.

Kennedy Leonard - Southlake HS (Carroll, Texas) – 2015

Like Ellis, Leonard has already chose her college destination, picking Colorado before the 2013 calendar year was out. The 5-8 combo guard has continued to hone in on developing her game, wrecking havoc on the opposing teams here in the process. Her ability to handle the basketball and get into the lane to score it or kick makes the four-star guard a versatile option for coach Linda Lappe and the Buffaloes long term. Leonard’s name will be in the mix as a possible ELITE 100 prospect in the upcoming rankings expansion. For now, she’ll focus on helping lead Cy-Fair with Ellis to a second consecutive Nike Nationals championship in July.
