SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., -- The Arizona Evaluation and Skills Academy saw 75 of the best prospects from the southwestern part of the country come together to compete and train against one another. With players in attendance from Colorado, Nevada, and Arizona, it was a good chance for Prospects Nation to get out and see the best the region has to offer.

Kendall Perry (Gilbert, Ariz.), Blue Star Arizona -- 2015

Class of 2015 guard Kendall Perry showed well here this weekend as she proved that she can operate well as a knockdown shooter and make plays for herself and others in certain spots. At 5 feet 8, Perry has good size for the guard positions and brings a good feel for the game and how to play to the floor with her every time she plays. Perry was effective spacing the floor and knocking down the perimeter jumper here but also made a few very good passes setting up teammates for plays of their own.

One of the things that is most impressive about Perry as a prospect is her consistent level of energy and how she is able to make an impact on the game on either side of the ball. She is a player who should be able to fit into a number of different kinds of systems offensively because she is unselfish yet effective. We have had the opportunity to watch the Arizona prospect numerous times this summer and she has been a consistent player of note.

SPOTLIGHT PLAYERS

Lauryn Satterwhite (Surprise, Ariz.), AZ Warriors – 2017

It’s always fun to get a peak into the future and class of 2017 guard Lauryn Satterwhite gave us exactly that. The young 5-7 point guard showed flashes of how good she can be if she continues to work and put it all together skill wise. She is a lightning quick lefty with the ability to attack the rim and find open teammates or score the ball with either hand. As just a rising freshman in high school it will be important for Satterwhite to continue to learn how to embrace the point guard position and become a vocal leader while also honing and refining her skill. With that in mind, the future could be very bright for this Arizona prospect.

Sabrina Haines (Mesa, Ariz.), Blue Star Arizona – 2015

Packaging a nice combination of strength, athleticism, and basketball IQ in one 5-9 package, Sabrina Haines impressive this weekend. She showed that she could be a play maker at the lead guard spot yet still pick spots to get her own offense as well. Haines is one of the better uncommitted prospects out west for the 2015 class and should be high on the recruiting radar for the next 12 months.

AROUND THE RIM

♦ Class of 2015 wing Armani Hawkins of Mesa, Ariz., recently made a verbal commitment to play at Arizona State. Hawkins will give the PAC-12 school a smooth wing with the ability to score the ball and all three levels.

Vanessa Barajas of Mesquite, Ariz., is an impressive 2014 post player. She showed a solid combination of size and skill this weekend and should fit in well in the post rotation at a college next year.

♦ Class of 2015 guard Noell Kellers of Phoenix, Ariz., is a combo guard who was aggressive here offensively. Kellers is a talented prospect who is still learning how to play and use her speed. If she can put it all together she could be an impressive prospect.
