West Virginia landed one of their key targets this week when 6-foot1 forward Kari Niblack of Wildwood, Florida made a verbal commitment to the Big 12 school. Niblack, who made an official visit to West Virginia in the Spring, was also considering offers from Florida State, Miami, Ohio State, Northwestern, and Alabama, and among others.
Going into this summer, West Virginia focused on landing an athletic forward who could rebound and defend immediately at the Big 12 level. Looking throughout the country there weren’t a lot of players who fit this mold, Niblack quickly became a priority for West Virginia coach Mike Carey and his staff, and they are fortunate to be adding her set of tools to their frontcourt.
Looking forward, West Virginia is in a position of strength recruiting wise. With the recent commitment from Niblack, they now have three four-star pledges in 2018 with 6-foot-5 post-Rochelle Norris and 5-foot-5 point guard Madisen Smith on the hook to go along with a four-star pledge in 2019, Anissa Rivera.
