Naismith Trophy Watch List I

Naismith Trophy Watch List I
Nunu Agara

The Naismith Trophy Girls High School Underclass Watch List was announced on Monday, highlighting some of the brightest young stars in the game ahead of the 2021-22 high school season. Here’s a look at the first half of the list members:

After committing to Stanford earlier in the fall, Agara will look to have a monster junior season for arguably the North Star State’s premier program. The Royals will count on her to lead them in multiple categories.

Bickley has shown that she’s a dynamic scorer and might be one of the best in the Midwest this year at putting the ball in the basket.

Blue is one of the more heralded sophomores in the country. She’s a new age big guard with the skill set to handle the ball in the open floor, find a teammate or make a shot.

Collins is poised to have a breakout campaign with the Broncos in 2021-22. She’s already scored her 1,000thcareer point in just over two seasons of play.

After a sophomore season that was completely modified by COVID-19, Dew is ready to establish herself as a mainstay not only on the West Coast but as a national face. Centennial is always a force to be reckoned with.

Donovan will be a key piece on one of the nation’s elite school teams in Sidwell Friends. Their schedule is borderline treacherous with one Top 25 caliber foe after anyone. Donovan will have plenty of chances to show and prove.

Dudley has burst onto the national scene ready to take on all comers. She plays on the same school team as Donovan so chances to back up her rep will be plentiful.

Simply put, Fulwiley is a bucket getter who provides instant offense. In that way, she doesn’t have many peers nationally. Look for her statlines to show just how talented she is with the rock.

During the 2020-21 season, Groot made the move to play alongside Ashlyn Watkins at Cardinal Newman while New York was on hault from playing games. Groot showed that she is a national level prospect who should still make plenty of noise back home this year at Dalton School.

Hidalgo is yet another product of the always talented state of New Jersey. The dynamic yet steady point guard rarely makes mistakes trying to do too much. Her production reflects that.

Hoover has become one of the southeast’s go-to programs for college coaches on the recruiting trail. Kelly’s another one of those elite level kids that the school is known for producing. A lead guard, Kelly is responsible for not only providing scoring but quarterbacking the team.

There aren’t many prospects nationally who have had the run during the Pandemic that Kitts has. She has been all over the country sharpening her game and her production has skyrocketed as a result. Kitts will lead DME Academy en route to a possible GEICO Nationals appearance.

After missing some time during the summer with an injury, Nichols appears to be back better than ever. She’s one to keep firmly on the radar as a big guard with deep shooting range.
