The early signing period for the 2016 recruiting class finished with a flurry of commitments. Two of the biggest headlines in the final days of the signing period were in the final hours. But perhaps more newsworthy is who didn’t commit early.
These rankings will see more changes as the spring open signing period comes closer and top players like No. 3 Sabrina Ionescu, No. 18 Tyasha Harris, No. 44 Arella Guirantes and No. 87 Felicia Aiyeotan announce their intentions.
Perhaps the biggest headline of the early signing period was the 180-degree change with No. 8 Tori McCoy of Champaign, Ill. The 6-foot-4 post was initially eying a December commitment and signing in the spring but announced her signing with Ohio State just a day before the early signing period expired.
That sudden change catapulted Ohio State’s class to the No. 5 spot in the country behind Maryland, Texas, Notre Dame and Baylor.
Both Arkansas and Georgia landed late additions to their classes with Arkansas signing No. 14 Aaliyah Wilson and Georgia adding No. 32 Stephanie Paul. Those additions gave both SEC schools classes ranked in the top 30 nationally.
