Obviously, this is a major addition for Baylor coach Kim Mulkey and her staff. Cox spent a majority of her prep career as the No. 1 overall player in the class and there will always be a case to be made for her as the best player in the class. When in the post she is a capable back the basket scorer who will force teams to double her. She is good enough from the perimeter to be effective and force people to respect her face-up ability.
With Baylor’s strength across the frontline, Cox will be able to play both the power forward and center positions, creating mismatches with the hopes that she can consistently exploit them.
The addition of Cox gives the Bears as much post depth as you will find anywhere in the country,” Chris Hansen, ProspectsNation.com managing editor said. “The versatility of Cox will allow Mulkey to be very creative as Kalani Brown, Beatrice Mompremier and Justis Szcezpanski all very different strengths and bring different styles to the court. And in Cox’s freshman season Baylor will still have Khadijah Cave, a 6-3 post who was voted Big 12 Sixth man of the year last season.”
Even though the addition of Cox is huge, Baylor might not be done in the 2016 class. Four-star wing Natalie Chou is still considering the Big 12 school and four-star guard Calveion Landrum of Waco, Texas, is already committed to coach Mulkey and her staff. The trio of Cox, Chou, and Landrum would undoubtedly give Baylor one of the best recruiting classes in the country.
