CARTERSVILLE, Georgia – One of the top July viewing events, year in and year out, is the Brandon Clay Scouting Summer Invitational. The field comes from all parts of the country and the cross-circuit matchups give the players and scouts alike an excitement level you can’t get most of the summer with show sponsored teams in their own leagues.
That diversity of the field makes for great conversation about the best players in the country. In this Best of BCS Summer Invite Series, we’ll look at different impacts players have on the game and our selections for who did the most in that area.
LEAD GUARD
Brown can run the offense, control tempo and get buckets when her team needs it the most. These skills combined with her size and athleticism are the reason why she is one of the most coveted lead guards in the country.
-- Jonathan Hemingway
Mayberry put herself in the ProspectsNation.com ELITE 150 discussion with her play here. She was both consistent and persistent leading the Banshees to wins over teams from both the Nike EYBL and adidas circuits. An Oral Roberts commit, Mayberry has the tools to be a Freshman of the Year candidate in the Summit League
--Brandon Clay
The new age lead guard has to be able to take over the game in every facet on the perimeter. Smith, who has been explosive since she burst onto the scene with the WI Flight Elite, is playing the game like a vet now. The experience of playing high level basketball the last year has her leading the break, finding teammates and scoring the ball when needed.
--Chris Hansen
Honorable Mention: Eniya Russell, Kayla McPherson, Jerkaila Jordan, Keegan Sullivan, Zanai Jones and Kamy Peppler.
