West is a bigger wing/small forward with a strong set shot and a reliable midrange game. She excels in catch-and-shoot situations, making her a valuable scoring option. While her foot speed and agility could be improved, particularly when defending quicker perimeter players, she compensates with her grit and willingness to embrace physicality. West is also a contributor on the boards, adding value in the rebounding category. Her tough, hard-nosed approach to the game makes her a dependable and resilient player.
West is fresh off her freshman season at Redmond and her game has elevated in one major area, her ability to play physical. Her impact on the glass has increased quite a bit. Her ball skill and size have been big assets but she’s now working out that she can both play offense and defend inside and out. In the pick-and-roll breakdowns we was one of the few who could be effective in either role of the action. Being able to roll, pop, slip and make a read was impressive. She’s put a lot of work into her jumper and it shows. She catches ready to shoot consistently to keep that scoring threat in the game at all times.
West’s basketball impact is grounded in a well-honed set of fundamental skills, with her shooting ability standing out prominently. Her consistent shooting form made her a reliable and dependable long-range threat. She demonstrated moments of vocal leadership, but there's room for growth in this area. Strengthening her communication skills and using her voice more effectively could enhance her role as a leader.
First thing that stands out on West is how hard she plays and competes. She is gritty, tough and has good size. She is shifty, has great change of speed and is a good finisher. She also has range on her shot.
