Chapman's skill set is commendable, and her assertiveness and work ethic are impressive. She has solid form on her jumper, consistently getting her feet set and squaring her hips and shoulders to the rim. She shot it well from range and found her spots off the dribble, effectively beating closeouts. Chapman is also a guard who doesn’t shy away from physicality on her drives. While her offensive game is strong, improving her defense could elevate her overall impact on the court.
Chapman's growth has been both consistent and impressive. She brings a workmanlike approach to every session I have a chance to evaluate her in. Chapman has the ability already to keep her under her shoulders even on the move. That's a hard principle for most prospects who play the game with the energy that she does. Her footwork is almost always in the "Box" under her shoulders. Chapman is what I call a "rhythm shooter" meaning if she sees 2 or 3 shots drop, that number can quickly turn into 7 or 8. That's a value for schools recruiting her at the PG or SG position. The next step for Chapman's shot before we train again in September is to consistently finish her shot with her elbow above her eye level. -- Brandon Clay / @BrandonClayPSB
Chapman is playing against high level competition year round in a state that lives and breathes basketball. In her freshman school season, Chapman was a starter for Zionsville with a quality statline of: 7 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2 assists and 1.6 steals per contest. Chapman was able to deliver those stats on just seven shooting attempts a game. Her efficiency is a major plus at the lead guard position in the future. Armed with range out to the 3-point line, Chapman can keep opposing defenses honest as well. Learning when and where to pick her spots to assert herself offensively will be a major key in her development the next 12-18 months. Chapman knows what she is doing footwork and balance wise in the gym which is impressive for a middle school prospect. On her shot, the ball is a little close on the shot so she can space that out a bit over time. Chapman is strong enough to keep her elbow on line with the rim and in front of her now. Her footwork is crisp and consistent every possession. She's got a lot of upside to be an elite level shot maker during her high school career and beyond. -- Brandon Clay
Chapman is the type of kid whose game I am drawn to because of her competitive spirit. Offensively, she can play on the ball but also shoots it well enough to play off the ball. The sky is the limit for Chapman. I told her onsite that she reminds me of Alli Harness in that she is such a competitor on the hardwood. As Chapman continues to get stronger and more confident in her offensive game, her production should continue to flourish. -- Brandon Clay
