Hinson will take her looks from a variety of spots on the perimeter. She needs more time and space to get her shot off and her exterior threat works well in a zone defensive setting which we do not see much of in a showcase. The good news is she shot it well when she had time. She also utilized a floater finish on multiple attacks to the basket. She has a strong frame so being aggressive off the bounce is a good thing. She has improved her ballhandling greatly since we saw her last. Going forward, needs to work on shot selection. If she can create more space for her shot, she can take open looks, it's just about reps and making reads because the confidence is there.
Hinson, 5'8 guard out of Buckley, Wash. This class of 2024 back court player started off camp well in the breakdown sessions showing she has good strength and is comfortable catching and shooting from range with her firm release. Going forward, developing confidence in her left hand is going to be key to her development before she enters high school, as well as adding one-two step footwork off the bounce. Adding ball control off the bounce is going to simplify the game for her because she has a high IQ to navigate the floor. During game play, she shot the 3-ball well and with rhythm, which was a reflection of her strengths during basket work. You can tell she has a lot of confidence with range, which is one of the most important aspects of being a threat on the perimeter, so reeling in that consistency will be key for her going forward. Overall, Hinson is engaged in impacting on the floor, so adding more aspects to what she already does well will be great to compare notes with next summer.
