Herrera is a 5’4, class of 2020 point guard with a fundamentally sound game. She approaches the game with a very poised mentality and has great decision making skills, which shows her attention to detail and a high basketball IQ. A smaller guard, Kaia shows a very strong skill set for her age and sound ball handling skills. Her intensity in the skill work was high and she was doing well with her combo dribbles. In the 5-on-5 games, Herrera showed really good court vision and although she wasn’t an assertive scorer, she had a nice smooth shot when she squared up to the basket. Going forward, she can look to develop more strength and more aggressiveness when she sees an opportunity to attack, while not losing a strong facilitating element to her game that comes from her ability to impact by getting her teammates involved. Overall, a lot of upside in her game moving forward as a young floor general.
