Opell is a terrific shooter with space and time. She plays well with a play-making guard who can deliver passes to her when the defense slides to help. Opell also showed her willingness to hit the pull-up jumper when the defense closes out too long on the perimeter. Although Opell is a solid ball handler, she can improve her distributing skills. Proving that she can handle pressure and deliver the ball to teammates will add value to her game as an all around back court player.
Opell is a smaller point guard who plays with a lot of energy. She handles the ball effectively in straight lines. Yet the strength of her game currently is on the defensive end. She seems to enjoy defending the basketball. Her willingness to play hard and with energy gives her a chance to be a difference maker in the future. The next step in her development centers on gaining confidence as a play-maker. Adding tools to her skill set will be important for her to make the next jump as a ball player.
