Bergstrom had an incredible showing in Seattle last year in 2018. Her growth was impressive and she had made some of the biggest changes I’ve seen out of an athlete in a year. She set the bar high coming into summer of 19’ with her work ethic. We were hoping to see continued development with her footwork in the paint and more impact in the midrange. She delivered! Her midrange catch and shoot is starting to feel automatic and consistent. On the block, she showed us a good set up on the interior that mimicks an old school back to the basket player, an element we have yet to see until recently. One might say she has a “dream shake” move in her arsenal that is a product of her patience to read the defense and wait to see where she can use her length to turn at the rim. She hit a nice right hand hook out of that set up that looked like it could be a go to for her on the block. Bergstrom has the elements you want in the front court. She's willing to kick out to open shooters from the post, very good vision and court awareness when getting doubled, takes the right shots and is on an upward trajectory working on her game.
Bergstrom, 6'2 post player in the 2021 class. Her offensive game has really developed over the last year. Her footwork on the block is more efficient and she is reading the pressure on her back before she makes a move at the rim. She had a nice fake to the middle and then turn to the glass for a shot, which is a move that she can really excel with. Her toughness passing out of the double teams and being strong with the ball has also improved. She also had some tough second chances points she created by rebounding with her positioning. Going forward, continuing to work her footwork and midrange set shot is key. She did knock down some shots in the midrange and did look for those looks, so continuing to develop that range in her arsenal is huge for her impact. Not only the growth skill wise, but the competitive mentality is more present than ever and she is looking to block shots and be physical defensively. Her trajectory is exciting given the work she has put in over the last year.
