In this Film Room Evaluation, Leffler showed during live pickup action against some of the region's premier prospects that she can take a bump and play through it. Her frame can absorb contact in the lane off the dribble but still complete the action. That's impressive in a gym full of next level prospects including multiple Indiana All-Star selections. Leffler has also shown the skill set to make the right decision in real time. Whether that's making a pass, hitting a shot or attacking the lane, Leffler has the ability to deliver whatever the correct basketball read is. That will go a lot way in establishing her as one of the premier guard prospects in the region's rising sophomore class. The next step for her is timing the pass back from players she's not super familiar with to still get her jumper off cleanly or to attack the closeout with a one-bounce jumper. -- Brandon Clay | @BrandonClayPSB
Leffler's emergence as one of the best guards inside the Hoosier State comes as no surprise to myself or our staff. In all of my Filmroom evals, the common theme is Leffler getting better while putting in the extra work on her game. This evaluation was no different. Fresh off of an offer from Purdue Fort Wayne, Leffler showed the ability for every shot to remain the same mechanically whether it was a make or a miss. That's usually reserved for upperclass prospects if not college players. Leffler also gets her wrist flicked into the basket on every shot. Going forward, look for Leffler to keep building on controlling her speed into her shot so she stays on balance off the dribble and not leaning to the left. -- Brandon Clay / @BrandonClayPSB
I said before her freshman season started that Leffler was an established product given her age. She did nothing but prove that statement to be correct with her play on the Hoosier's State biggest level all year. Leffler produced in a major way finishing with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 1.5 steals a game en route to winning a conference title with Roncalli. She has a skill set that lends itself to being productive off the basketball but can also assume some lead guard responsibilities as well. Look for Leffler to be even more assertive as she returns for her sophomore season after a spring / summer with West Virginia Thunder Riego. -- Brandon Clay / @BrandonClayPSB
We're watching Leffler mature right in front of our eyes. She's established herself as one of the more talented backcourt options in a state known for producing quality play year after year. Leffler is a consistent threat to knock down the open 3-point shot when she gets a clean look. Add that to her willingness to attack downhill and Leffler has a skill set that lets her serve as a playmaker. Over the next 12 months, look for Leffler to become a more vocal leader on the floor. -- Brandon Clay
Leffler's dedication to the game is remarkable. She approaches basketball as a student, constantly seeking knowledge, asking pertinent questions, and striving to enhance her skills. This mindset translates to the live game, where she exhibits a strong basketball IQ, excellent court awareness, and solid fundamentals. As a big guard, Leffler's size gives her an advantage, particularly when attacking the rim and maneuvering through physical contact. However, there is room for improvement in terms of her shooting consistency and defensive footwork. With continued focus on these aspects, Leffler has the potential to elevate her game even further.
