Washington had her skill set on full display again this weekend. Her ability to finish at the rim with either hand set her a part as one of the better off guards in the gym. She excels in transition where she can use her speed to get out in front of opposing defenders. She was equally effective in the half court where she shot the ball well from range. Her footwork, once again, was stellar. She uses jab steps better than most guards. She can get the opposition off balance and find the right way to attack. While Washington is an adept passer, she still has room to grow as a playmaker. Sometimes taking the lead and playing aggressively is the right basketball move. When she takes that step in her game, she could start garner serious consideration at the next level.
Washington was one of the more talented wings in the building for the weekend camp. She showed the ability to score the basketball from different areas on the court. Her follow through on her jumper was consistent and she found ways to get into the lane to score. Her body control and feel in the lane is special, especially for a kid her age. More than that, she proved she was able to cut to open areas and find scoring opportunities even when she did not have the ball in her hands. The challenge for Washington moving forward will be to lock in mentally regardless of the situation. There were times when she was not locked in, which prevented consistent play.
