I love to breakdown film to get a feel for a player’s game. However in this case, I put my adidas on to actually hoop with Stoops and get a real time read on what I was seeing on video. Stoops biggest asset as a prospect right now is her ability to see plays unfolding in real time. When I had the ball at the Point Guard position, Stoops was able to read where the defender wasn’t repeatedly. If the defender tried to take away the backdoor or cut, Stoops would make that read as well and pop out for the 3-pointer. That shotmaking ability makes it’s tough for defenders to cover Stoops with one player. Going forward, I believe Stoops will be able to put people in spots the way I did with her during this session. – Brandon Clay / @BrandonClayPSB
Stoops had not been with the Brandon Clay Training staff before Saturday. She’s got a chance to be one of the best that the region, if not country, has to offer in her class. Stoops ability to score the basketball is beyond her years with plenty of room to improve her craft. She has all the tools to be a true PG1 in the mold of current Overtime Select MVP and Southeast All Star, Kate Harpring. For now, Stoops can focus on her skill set attacking off of her right hand to finish right hand at the rim. She also has the skill needed to truly lead a team with her voice on both ends of the hardwood. -- Brandon Clay
