Lopez, 5'6 guard in the 2021 class. Offensively, she has a nice touch on her shot and was capable of knocking it down with range. With the ball in her hand, she has a savvy feel to her game and is opportunistic in her approach when she is navigating the floor, which is great to see. On the perimeter, she uses pump fakes to deflect on her shot, which shows good awareness, but making sure she is timely into her 1-2 step is important for consistent rhythm. At times there is a little hesitation with a quick close-out, but making sure she maximizes her decision-making on the perimeter is key for her offensive growth. Overall, Lopez brought energy and competed well over the weekend.
Lopez is a 5'6 guard in the 2021 class who plays with a lot of energy and assertiveness on the floor. Offensively, she is vocal and understands spacing on the court for herself and her teammates . She mostly looks to facilitate right now, but in transition she finds the opening to spot up on the wing and shoot the 3-ball. She has good size and strength for her age, but if she can further develop her ball-handling skillset, that will help her get more aggressive in the paint. Defensively, she gets out and pressures the ball and was very active rebounding and rotating to protect the basket. She plays with an extremely high effort level and because of that, she stands out with her extra hustle plays and intangibles that don't always show up on the stat sheet. Overall, Lopez is a young guard who came ready to compete and get better both in the skill sessions and in game play.
