Baker is a promising prospect who has a nice blend of size and ball skill. She was great in the open court with her handling ability. She gets downhill in a straight-line to the rim. Her ability to finish along the baseline in traffic also stood out as a big asset. Baker also showed promise with her jump shot. Her ability to hit spot up 3s will help keep the defense honest. This biggest area where Baker could improve upon is her stance. Playing lower with her knees bent will give her the ability to utilize her explosiveness more effectively on both ends of the floor.
Baker, 5'6 guard in the 2024 class. Over the weekend, she had a lot of opportunities to show her work ethic and attention to detail during skillwork. Her ball skills are developing well for her age, and she has good guard length already at this point. In game play, she was more of a facilitating guard and looked to find open teammates. Although there weren't many opportunities for her to score at the rim, she looked to crash the boards, had good spacing on the offensive end and overall has a good upside. Going forward, working on a more consistent attack off the bounce and looking to spot up on the perimeter are areas she can look to develop right away. It will be great to compare notes with her growth over the next year if she continues to develop her game.
