Mathangani is a versatile forward who can play both inside and out. Her shooting touch extends out close to the 3-point arc while she also can use both hands to finish in the paint. Her length allows her to defend on the interior while she also has the footwork to defend on the perimeter. Her challenge is finding a way to balance playing inside and out. Understanding that she can use her height as an advantage will be key for her. If she becomes a wing that floats around the arc she will be easily guarded by smaller defenders, which should be an advantage for her.
Mathangani has many of the athletic tools that coaches look for in a prospect. She is long and can run the court as well as a guard. Defensively she has the potential to become a lock down defender, because of her long arms and relatively quick feet for her size. On the offensive side, Alexys is still developing. She is not a project, but she has not turned the corner in producing consistently. It will be important for her to stay in the gym and develop a specialty.
