I had not had the opportunity to spend time breaking down Knaust’s game on film before this evaluation. Her confidence as a shot maker jumped out right away. Knaust has real shooting range out to the 24-foot line. She’s not afraid to stop and pull up in transition for the 3-pointer. In the halfcourt, she will take a couple of dribbles to create a midrange step back. Coming off an eighth-grade season where Knaust averaged just over 16 points per game, she’s ready for the new challenge that high school basketball will bring. She shot 36 plus percent from beyond the arc last year. If Knaust can stay above 34 percent during the transition as a freshman and beyond, that’s a huge advantage for her and any roster she is a part of. Knaust’s shooting form is consistent. She also shot over 87 percent from the free throw line. Those two averages speak to the fact that Knaust shot looks the same during and after the release time and time again. That ability coupled with her willingness to put the basketball on the floor and attack bodes well for her over the next four years. Knaust will continue to mature physically in due time as will her ability to play through contact against high level talent three to four years her senior. The foundation for her to be successful is there. Knaust is putting in the time at various events nationwide to keep getting the repetitions she needs to grow her game. – Brandon Clay / @BrandonClayPSB
