Makeer Chooses Gamecocks
Agot Makeer

Agot Makeer of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada, made her commitment to South Carolina this week.  She was the second highest ranked 2025 prospect on the board still, following top-ranked Aaliyah Chavez of Lubbock, Texas.

Makeer, a 6-foot-1-inch guard, was one of the biggest risers of 2024, moving up into the CONSENSUS top 5 (No. 7 by ProspectsNation.com) and being one of two Canadians chosen for the 2025 McDonald’s All-American Game after spending her senior season at Montverde Academy in Florida, after helping elevate Crestwood Prep in Ontario to new heights as an underclassmen.

Makeer joins CONSENSUS top 25 forward Ayla McDowell of Cypress, Texas, in the Gamecocks 2025 Class..

Makeer chose Dawn Staley’s program of finalists Connecticut, Duke, Kentucky, Michigan State and North Carolina.

Makeer brings a different type of versatility to the Gamecock roster. From her days as a underclass prospect playing for Crestwood Prep and Kia Nurse Elite to her time with the Canadian 17-and-Under National Team, Makeer has no shortage of reps versus elite competition. Add that to her senior season of games at Montverde Academy plus the upcoming postseason All-American circuit and Makeer will be ready for what awaits in Columbia this summer. She has the tools and skill set to give Dawn Staley quality minutes early if called upon.

AROUND THE RIM

Chavez is expected to announce her commitment on March 25th.  The 5-10 point guard will chose from finalists Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas and Texas Tech.
