Best has both the skill and the work ethic needed to be a high-level shot maker from beyond the arc in college. At her size, consistently shooting the 3-pointer in the mid 30 percent range If not higher would be a major plus. Best showed crisp footwork on the move here at the Brandon Clay All-American Camp in Indianapolis. The waist up mechanics on every shot she takes looks the same. I don’t expect Best to ever be the biggest guard in the room but like Jalen Brunson in the Knicks vs Pacers series, Best can be a tough matchup by always utilizing her footwork. There were multiple possessions here in Colorado where Best was able to switch gears and create off the bounce as a result. Look for her to keep adding physical strength over the next couple of years. Best’s skill set is crisp with a jumper that can keep opposing defenders honest. Very few lead guards nationwide regardless of size can make the plays that Best was able to make in Colorado during the USA Trials. Best is a point guard whose game is defined by craftiness, high basketball IQ, and skill. She excels in orchestrating the floor, setting up her teammates, and scoring with both proficiency and efficiency. Her ability to elevate her play in crucial moments is a testament to her natural playmaking instincts and exceptional court vision. Best's maturity is reflected in her poise, allowing her to compete beyond her years. Her versatility is a defining attribute; she isn't solely a scorer nor just a facilitator—she strikes a remarkable balance between creating plays for others and taking scoring opportunities herself. While her instinctive drives are impressive, she has room to grow in terms of maintaining her dribble under pressure and avoiding getting trapped. A more strategic approach to penetrating defenses will undoubtedly refine her playmaking arsenal.
Extremely good feel for the game. Best is natural. She has good instincts, great floor command, vision and passing acumen. She makes others around her better, creates shots for her teammates. She is as difficult an assignment as there is for a defender right now at her age. She is a great 1-on-1 player with elite ball handling ability. She has nice looking mechanics on her shot. She is vocal and has leadership skills beyond her years. A bright, intelligent player, Best is a star in the making. As she matures, her shot from outside will no doubt gain more consistency.
