#NationNews: West Virginia, McDAA Game and More
McDonald’s Moves to Atlanta
Early Wednesday morning, game directors announced that the prestigious game would move to Atlanta, Georgia with Phillips Arena being the host for the class of 2018. The move signals the end of an era as Chicago has been the games home since 2011. The change will be exciting as Atlanta has become a grassroots basketball hotbed with a high volume of national events and showcases being played in the greater Atlanta area.
Jala Jordan Picks West Virginia
As we get closer and closer to the next update to the 2018 recruiting class rankings, West Virginia coach Mike Carey and his staff continue to build one of the best classes in the Big12 and the country as a whole. This week, Cary and his staff added 2018 wing Jala Jordan, a four-star prospect out of the greater Atlanta area. Jordan will join current West Virginia commits, Kari Niblack, Rochelle Norris, Madisen Smith, all of whom are four-star targets.
Big Week for Hartford
During her time as an assistant coach at Georgia and Virginia, Hartford coach Kim McNeil earned a reputation as one of the best recruiters in the country. Now as a second-year head coach in the America East conference, McNeil, and her staff are starting to make in-roads on the recruiting trail and it is beginning to pay off. Last week Hartford picked up a commitment from Jordan McLemore, a three-star guard from New Jersey and later in the week, Jabria Ingram, a three-star guard from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Judging from their play in July, McLemore and Ingram should complement each other well as McLemore is an athletic guard who takes care of the ball and makes open shots while Ingram has a strong frame to go along with an aggressive style of play.
