Romney, 5'6, class of 2021 point guard. Distributes the ball well and is more of a pass first guard, but is capable of scoring beyond the arc. She will shoot if off the bounce, but developing more consistency in that region is key for her impact. As she does that, she will get more looks at the rim with hard closeouts. Romney needs to develop more strength which will help her play through contact in the paint. She gets there frequently, but needs to capitalize on those opportunities to continue her offensive impact. As game play continued throughout the day, it was great to see Romney in her element because she started to show less hesitation in her shot from range, and was able to knock down a couple 1-2 step 3-balls. Overall, Romney is a guard we look forward to watching over the next few years.
Romney is a 5’6 guard in the 2021 class that came to camp with a great approach. She wanted to make things happen and was confident in her abilities on the floor. She likes to shoot it in the midrange and will shoot it off the bounce. In the 4-on-4 games she showed a quick trigger and overall she was dialed in on her attack. Going forward, areas of improvement for her will be developing more strength, consistency from range and improving her left hand. She is more dominant going right, but adding more strength will naturally help develop more consistency from range. Overall, Romney was impressive and also brought great energy to the weekend and made a lot of hustle plays.
