Signing Class Rankings (updated)

Thursday was a busy day with three highly ranked recruits announcing their choices and shaking up the recruiting class rankings for 2017. Click the logo below to see the latest signing class rankings.

Washington Lands Rooks

On the final day of the early signing period Khayla Rooks of San Marcos, California, signed with Washington.  The 6-1 mobile forward chose the Huskies over Santa Barbara.  She visited the Seattle, Washington, campus last weekend.  Rooks is a versatile forward option who helped power Mission Hills to three CIF sectional titles.  With West Coast Premier she had a strong summer averaging 12 points and 8.2 rebounds per game in Nike EYBL league play.  She joins Kierra Collier, a 5-6 point guard from Kansas City, Missouri, who is ranked No. 55 in the ELITE 150.

No. 10 Carter Chooses A&M

Chennedy Carter, one of the most explosive perimeter players in the class, announced she will sign with Texas A&M.  Her commitment gives coach Gary Blair's recruiting class a big bump up to No. 11 nationally.

Clemson Adds Strover

Over the weekend, four-star forward Jenise Strover of Phoenix, Ariz., announced her decision to sign with the Clemson Tigers.  Strover, who stands 6-2, is an ultra-athletic forward with a developing offensive skill set. While she currently is better attacking the basket and finishing around the rim, she is developing some perimeter skills that could allow her to be a versatile offensive weapon for Clemson coach Audra Smith and her staff.  (Video of Strover can be found on her profile page.)

No. 18 Onyenwere Chooses UCLA

UCLA has added a fourth player to their 2017 class during the early signing week with the addition of Michaela Onyenwere of Aurora, Colo. The 5-foot-11 forward will join Lauryn Miller, Kayla Owens and Chantel Horvat on campus in Westwood next year.  Here is a quick evaluation on Onyenwere’s game from Johnathan Hemingway, assistant director of scouting at ProspectsNation.com:

“Onyenwere may not meet the prototypical measurable of a power forward, but she was one of the most productive forwards at the tournament this week. She scored consistently inside and rebounded as well as anyone. She has great bounce in her legs while also being able to work both ends of the hi-lo. Because of her athletic ability and activity, she was able to show she has the ability to defend both inside and out.”  (Summer Invitational -- July 2015)

No. 3 Boothe To Texas

Rellah Booth of Jacksonville, Florida, announced her commitment to Texas on Friday morning at IMG Academy.  She is ranked No. 4 in the ProspectsNation.com ELITE 150.

No. 2 Westbrook's Decision

No. 2 Evina Westbrook has a press conference set for 4:00 p.m. (PT).  She will be choosing between Maryland, Oregon State and Tennessee.

No. 1 Walker Chooses UConn

Megan Walker of Chesterfield, Virginia, the top ranked player in the 2017 class, chose Connecticut on Thursday.  She chose the Huskies over finalists Notre Dame and Texas.  The addition moves Connecticut's class to No. 1 with several key commits still to come.

"Walker's size and skill on the wing will make her a tough matchup for opposing defenses game in and game out," Brandon Clay, owner of the JumpOffPlus.com International Scouting Service, said. "She's a multi-faceted prospect in that regard and should only enhance an already loaded UConn roster with her offensive talents. The way the Huskies play, Walker will be able to play three if not four positions depending on the opponent."

No. 14 Farley Clark To LSU

Raven Farley-Clark, the 6-4 post from Elizabeth, N.J., announced on Thursday her commitment to LSU.  With Farley-Clark, the Tigers now have the No. 13 and No. 14 ranked players in the class committed.

More To Come

Though the early class rankings have settled down a little bit, there remain several major undecided players that will shake things up even more.

The nation’s top two seniors, Megan Walker of Chesterfield, Virginia, and Evina Westbrook of Salem, Oregon, both have press conferences set up for their announcements this week.

A pair of top 10 prospects from Jacksonville, Florida are also expected to announce this week with No. 4 Rellah Boothe and No. 9 Rennia Davis still undecided.

No. 10 Chennedy Carter of Arlington, Texas, who scored 40 points last night against Duncanville, will be committing Monday morning, which happens to be her birthday.

No. 18 Michaela Onyenwere will announce her choice on Saturday morning on channel 9 in Denver, according to her club coach Robert Sanchez.  The release is expected at 9:30 a.m. local time.

Get ready for a wild week of change in the 2017 recruiting world.
