An inside first, outside second swing player this weekend. She continues to impact the defensive end with her length and mobility. She alters shots both guarding the ball and sliding over from the weak side. She has progressed with her ability to play through contact and it’s an area she needs to continue to improve in. She’s shooting the perimeter jumper with more confidence, even hitting a couple of threes.
Budnik is a 6'1 wing player that brings a lot of versatility and size to the guard position. Her skill set can be utilized in a variety of settings and she is huge mismatch threat on the interior both offensively and defensively. On the offensive end, she has range beyond the arc, handles the ball really well on the perimeter and can play athletically around the rim. We saw her finish creatively to set up a smooth take with an opposite arm, opposite leg finish at the basket. In terms of the mismatch, against smaller guards defending her on the block, she is very patient, can make reads and uses the baby hook jumper against taller defenders. Defensively, she is a solid shot blocker with good timing and a deterrent for players driving in the lane. Going forward, developing her left hand and bringing consistency to her 3-point shot are areas she can look to focus on over the next year. Overall, Budnik has a great feel to her game and has a lot of upside clocking in only as a class of 2020 prospect.
Very impressed with Budnik’s advanced skill set, composure, confidence and intelligence. Her physical and athletic attributes are equally impressive. She has great upside. She can play in and out, has outstanding footwork and an array of offensive weaponry. She has range on her jumper and can manufacture in the midrange areas. She also does a great job on the defensive side of the floor with her size, length and agileness. She has the feet to play on the perimeter defensively, length and size to be disruptive on shooters. She can get out in the passing lanes, and has the size to guard inside and protect the rim.
