McDaniel is an intriguing prospect with her combination of length on the perimeter and what appears to be high upside longterm. She's gotten stronger physically which is allowing her to complete some of the plays she couldn't finish 12 months ago. McDaniel is a capable jump shooter and driver off of the catch as well. Strength will still be an area for development over the next 12 months for her but she's on the right path in that regard.
McDaniel's length and skill are starting to show. She is leaps and bounds from where she was this time 12 months ago. She finished with contact in transition showing legitimate guard skills in the process. McDaniel looked to be more comfortable from the outside as a jump shooter as well. Next up will be increasing her vocal-ness on the defensive end and keeping her dribble low on the offensive end.
McDaniel has some qualities that coaches love to have on the court. She is a guard that has great length and ball skill. The left-hander can make plays going downhill with the dribble and is smooth enough to set up her teammates with the pass. She is also skilled enough to hit jumpers off the reversal pass. Although she is not a difference maker on the defensive end yet, she has the physical tools to become that in future years. The area where McDaniel can grow the most is in physicality. She now enters her junior year of high school and should make strength and conditioning a priority. Maximizing her core strength will be important for her overall game development.
McDaniel is a fierce competitor on the court. She is plays hard and often makes the second effort play. She is aggressive on both ends of the floor. She is particularly good at slashing to the bucket. Adding counter moves with the dribble will help her create more scoring opportunities in the future.
McDaniel is a left handed wing. She has a lanky frame and can drive the ball baseline very well. Her willingness to move without the basketball is important as well. Her ability to score the ball more consistently will be the key for her development in the future.
