LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga.—Session II of the PSB Tip-Off Classic got off to a quick start on the morning of the 22nd at Bogan Park and spread out over four other locations throughout the evening. A field of 104 teams from all across the United States and Canada competed in the showcase games that matched up highly touted teams and prospects. Here is a look at a few standouts from day one.
Grace Marko (Boca Raton, Fla.), Boca Raton Thunder – 2017
Marko is a versatile perimeter threat for the Boca Raton Thunder. The were numerous times where she showcased her ability to consistently drive the ball and either pull up for a mid-range jumper, or kick it to a spot up shooter on the wing. At 6 feet 1, she uses her size to see over smaller defenders and attack the rim. Grace handles the ball with great control and finishes well after splitting two defenders. Marko dropped 26 points in the Thunder’s opening showcase game and remains on track for a big spring.
Louise Forsyth (Langley, B.C.), BC’s Finest – 2017
BC’s Finest is loaded with talent and Forsyth made her presence felt early Friday morning. The 6-1 guard tallied 22 points in BC’s Finest opening game and then followed that up with 20 points in the night cap. Forsyth has a polished offensive arsenal with the ability to knock down the 3-ball, pull up for a mid-range jumper, and finish with a floater from the baseline. She scored the first nine points in BC’s game against Boca Raton Thunder as she drained a 3-pointer and then netted three straight baseline floaters after refusing the screen.
Rachel Levy (Boca Raton, Fla.), Boca Raton Thunder – 2017
Boca Raton Thunder has a strong roster full of blue-collar players that compete on both ends. Levy impressed our staff yesterday as she dominated the game on the offensive end for the Thunder. Levy is a legitimate 6-3 forward with the ability to stretch the defense out to the perimeter. She went coast-to-coast in transition multiple times and hit two 3-pointers from the trail position as well. The Thunder utilize her size well in the high-low attack as she attacks from the free throw line and has great footwork coming off of a spin move for the finish.
Tea Adams (Kirkland, Wash.), ECBA Swish Black – 2017
Adams is a powerful combo guard who controls the game for the ECBA Swish. She creates the majority of her scoring opportunities off the bounce, but also looks to distribute and create for her teammates as well. The Kirkland, Wash., native proved her ability to attack the rim and score against an extremely talented Tennessee Xtreme squad. She impacts the game on the defensive end with her lateral speed and willingness to rebound from the guard position.
Dominique Fields (Lauderhill, Fla.), Team MVP 17U – 2018
Fields is a speedy point guard with a knack for getting to the rim. When she gets the ball going downhill it is difficult to keep her from attacking the lane and creating scoring opportunities. Team MVP has a team full of players who can apply pressure on the ball, and Fields is one of their best defenders by shooting the gap and converting steals into easy buckets.
AROUND THE RIM
Class of 2020 wing Sydney Parrish of Fishers, Ind., is a player firmly on our radar. A skilled prospect, she led her Sky Diggs team to a big win over West Virginia Thunder.
Class of 2019 guard Macey Gregg of Rossville, Ga., continues to grow her game. With an array of open jumpers and dribble drives to the rim, Gregg made her presence felt throughout the game for Tennessee Xtreme Smith.
Mya Giusto of Naples, Fla., is a dynamic option at the guard position. The class of 2019 guard can make plays with her court vision as well as her outside shooting ability.
Class of 2019 guard Brylee Bartram of Fla., has established herself as a must track prospect in the Sunshine State. She continues to showcase a long-range jump shot that makes her standout for Tampa Thunder Team Dupree.
Like Bartram, Alexis Campos of Maryville, Tenn., has range from just inside the volleyball line. The class of 2018 guard is not afraid to pull the trigger on the outside shot.
Dyer joined the team at the end of 2012 and quickly made her presence felt as our in-house contributor for Peach State Media during all events and now as a writer for Prospects Nation. She’s been in the community as a columnist since 2008 and also serves on the Naismith Awards selection committee. Rebecca played college ball at both Kentucky and North Carolina.
Brandon Clay serves as the WNBA Director of Scouting for ProspectsNation.com and owns The JumpOffPlus.com International Report, which is picked up by more than 150 colleges and universities nationwide. He serves as the Executive Camp Director for the Elite Basketball Academy Camps.
